Testimonies; are they needed? The answer is a resounding “Yes.” No matter how good a person’s product or service is. People always want to read, hear or see a video featuring someone who has used the product or service before them. Testimonies are a Great way to convince someone to part with their hard earned dollars. Having testimonies on your site will definitely help to increase your conversion rate.
How do you get testimonies? That’s relatively easy especially if you already have a mailing list. You can simply select 10 to 25 of your best repeating customers and offer them your new product as a gift in exchange for their written, audio or video testimony stating what they think of your new product. If you don’t have a list you can still get the testimonies that you need. Simply contact your friends and neighbors and ask them to review your product which they can keep for free in exchange for their testimony.
Either way it works for both of you. They get a free product and you get a testimony, it’s a win, win situation. Once you have gotten the testimonies that you require you need to figure out where you will place them on your web site. As with the features of your product you can place them one after the other, I would do this only if they were audio or video testimonies. Written testimonies on the other hand I would spread out in groups of 2, 3 or 4 testimonies placing my groups of features for my product in between the groups of testimonies.
An audio or video testimony is more convincing than a simple written testimony, simply because the viewer of your website can see an actual person giving the testimony. If you get a written testimony, see if the person giving it would not mind giving you a photograph as well. Again this adds more credibility to the testimony. The more excited the person is about your product the better it is for you.
Select the ten best testimonies from those that you receive to be placed on your web site. Place the best three in the top three positions. The remaining seven can be placed in any order you like. Not everybody is going to read, listen to, or view all ten of your testimonies. If your testimonies are exceptional they will virtually sell your product for you. Requiring you to do little more than explaining your product and its features.
Do whatever you need to do to get the testimonies that you need. If you need to give a product or two away to get a person’s testimony, Do It. It will help you out in the long run. If you have any JV’s that you’ve worked with try to get them to try your product and give you a testimony in return. If your JV is well known on the internet marketing scene all the better for you.
